FEAMC President Meets Newly Appointed Ecclesiastical Assistant in Bratislava

The European Federation of Catholic Medical Associations (FEAMC) held an important meeting on 22 November 2025 in Bratislava, marking the first official encounter between the FEAMC President Prof. Rok Čivljak and the newly appointed Ecclesiastical Assistant of FEAMC Prof. Ján Ďačok SJ.

The meeting took place at the Faculty of Theology of Trnava University in Bratislava, situated near the city’s historic Old Town Hall at the edge of the central square, Hlavné námestie—a symbolic and culturally significant location underscoring the Federation’s deep academic and spiritual ties. In attendance were Prof. Jozef Glasa, Vice President of FEAMC; Dr. Helena Glasová; and Dr. Petar Bilić, Vice President of the Croatian Catholic Medical Association.

The discussions unfolded in a collegial and constructive atmosphere, focusing on several key themes essential for FEAMC’s future development. Participants reviewed current FEAMC initiatives and explored priorities for the coming years. Emphasis was placed on enhancing cooperation among national associations, promoting educational and ethical programs, and reinforcing FEAMC’s presence within both European medical circles and ecclesial structures. A central topic was the increasing need for spiritual accompaniment for healthcare professionals facing significant pressures. The newly appointed Ecclesiastical Assistant expressed his dedication to providing pastoral guidance, supporting spiritual formation, and collaborating closely with chaplains and Church institutions engaged in healthcare ministry. The meeting also considered new avenues for FEAMC to assist national associations of Catholic physicians, particularly those undergoing renewal or seeking organizational support. Proposed efforts include leadership development, sharing best practices, strengthening international networks, and supporting regional cooperation.

The Bratislava meeting represents a meaningful step toward deeper collaboration and renewed dynamism within FEAMC leadership. All participants expressed their shared commitment to advancing the mission of Catholic physicians, uniting scientific excellence with the ethical and spiritual values of the Catholic faith.
