Belgian Medical Association Saint Luke
Save the date for our annual symposium in Namur.
Our society and health system are dominated by performance and optimisation drives. In a world full of uncertainties, ecosystems and people risk being drained. However, basic biological processes such as Krebs’ citric acid cycle do not excel in efficiency but rather in stability amidst changing conditions. Life is not synonymous with being hyperefficient.
Rather, it is robust resilience that allows us to live in a fluctuating world we no longer control.
In collaboration with Université de Namur, the Belgian Medical Society Sint-Lucas is organising this symposium on how our medical practice strikes the right balance between performance and resilience.
The Church’s social teaching on the common good and St Francis’s Song of the Sun – which celebrates its 800th anniversary this year – continue to inspire us in our search for this good balance, even in the face of suffering and limitations.
